Remote Support Software for Single Tech / Sole Operator

I tried Splashtop for a bit and I just didn't like it. Felt it was too cumbersome. I feel AnyDesk is extremly straight forward. Add the license to your main desktop that you be remoting in and start installing all the clients on each device.

I put my business clients on Unattended and the remaining on On Demand.

Have you generated a branded exe or not bothered?

Did someone mention Anydesk? This has got to be the worst piece of software there is. How dare it be faster then TV or like software? How dare it work as intended and keep more money in my pocket then in the developers pocket? How dare it be cost effective yet provide unattended access? How dare it work as a service and be this cheap? Yeah, its terrible. I hate it so much I bought it. :D

Seriously though. To all those using it, your welcome! :p Its an absolute joy to use and indeed very affordable. Depending on how often you use it and which plan you get, it will pay for itself starting from the first time you use it. I have the Branded version. I love Anydesk.

Does Anydesk have Drag & Drop, Session Recording, Screen Sharing, Disable Remote User Input, Remote Printing, Reboot the remote machine, do chat and video etc?

Not all of them, but then again, how often do you actually need to use all of them? Its does Session Recording, Disable Remote User Input, Reboot the remote machine (and into safe mode AND reestablish connection in SM with networking). Good enough for 99 percentile. And it will also do dual/triple monitor as well, pulling for each screen.

Anydesk is not made for large businesses and wasn't designed to do so out the gate. For small OMA and mom & pop shops to small shops, its perfect for what it does do - at least for me. Its not like I do remote sessions 100 miles from me or in another state. If that was the case, then yes, I can see why someone would opt for a more in-depth and expensive solution.

To add, I like TV - just cannot justify the cost of it. But as with any software or service, I tend to support small companies that provide like or close to tools that the greedy corporations/businesses offer. I understand economics of the software industry. However, I cannot support any company that spends lets say $25,000 to develop a product or service and sells it for lets say $2k + yearly fees or yearly license renewals or absorbent monthly dues - especially those services that are completely automated.

I am only a couple days into my trial. So far it seems good. I haven't used it unattended yet. Its good they give you a month trial, a decent enough time for a little business like me to get some remote work in. :)

Just wanted to hijack this thread.. to ask if folks using Anydesk are still happy with it?

I am currently on a months trial... trying to figure out the finer points of it.

thanks

This weekend I'm right about the 30 day mark with Anydesk. I think I bought it around day 2. I'm using AnyDesk Lite.

It's simplicity (while still having everything I need for my tiny business), speed, price, Android app, the way it handles multiple monitors, etc. made me a fan out of the gate. I use it in conjunction with the Tech ToolStore which I had previously purchased, but didn't use very often.

At first, I didn't like Anydesk's "Original" display option. The screen kind of scrolls around contrary to the mouse movements and it made me a little woozy! But now I'm accustomed to it, and even getting to like it. Ultimately, it's a very efficient way to move around a large screen.

Thanks. I looked at the website but couldn't see any details of what it did, even on the Features page.
The reason I asked was that I have become very disgruntled with TV and their spiralling costs.
Although I do regularly use most of the features in TV, If I had equivalents to Drag and Drop, like just a file transfer option, Remote Reboot etc, I would be interested.
The Chat and Video is not so important because most of my clients have Skype installed so I could kick of a Skype session on their computer anyway.
I could live without Remote Printing, used little anyway (print out their account for them) but I could do it other ways.
One other question: Does it have a custom module that I could "own brand" and integrate into Kabuto?

Yes, if you get the professional at $229/yr USD (which is 1/3rd minimum the cost of TV) and you can upload your custom .exe to Kabuto as they have a section for your own remote service software.

The only thing that has me flummoxed is how to transfer files. If I click on file transfer I just get a no entry sign on my cursor.

Any ideas?

It uses the clipboard rather than drag and drop. Copy a file on your computer and paste it to the client machine (and vice versa). It's not 100% perfect. For example, I've encountered situations where I can copy a file from the client to my computer, but not from mine to the client.

In the settings, under the Security section, there's a toggle to allow/disallow clipboard sharing.

I was sorry to see AnyDesk used by scammers to scam my customer out of $473 CAD yesterday. I guess, like many of us, they have switched from Ammyy Admin to something not blocked by virtually every AV and browser out there. I hope it doesn't become a widespread practice and erode AnyDesk's good name.

DId a client's Windows license expire again....?? :)

I don't recall what problem the scammer was claiming, TBH. I'm finding more and more users calling a support number they find using Google, and while it seems to be a legitimate site, it's a scammer site.

The last call I had from a customer of mine asking for guidance said he got a call from the security department of the T-D bank, saying his account had sent a $700 payment to Western Union. They asked for money under some pretext and he declined. The interesting part is, when he hung up and called the bank's number listed on his bank card, the scammer took the call, claiming to be the T-D security department again. I suspect they held the line open and he dialed without ensuring he had a dial tone first. Resourceful evil buggers, they are.
