A more curious question than anything else:

(Business in the US)

For remote support , helping a client out of state without ever physically being in the state, is that considered out of state business and what implications does that mean these days?

Business may go this direction soon and want to know what to expect -

links, articles, experiences would be great!

THANKS

I know for all the cities I work in it comes down to where the work is done at. So if I'm doing it at my office in City A, State A. I would pay City A income tax since that's where I actually did the work from, I wouldn't put that down as City B or State B income since that income was earned in City A. At least this is what I've been doing and my accountant hasn't said anything else, but wouldn't hurt just to ask your accountant to make sure it's the same in your case.

I've done several remote support jobs for out of state and out of the country clients. We invoice and bill it as we normally would. It's never been an issue. I believe the only time you need to register in the state you are doing work in is if you have a physical location there.

The only sort tricky thing might be taxes. In our state, service isn't taxed so its a non issue.
