Hi, well this is annoying, I've always used Teamviewer to access remote macs because its the only one I found that would work from pc to osx, well now 10.14 Mojave has added security that makes it impossible to do anything but view unless the client digs into security settings and gives Teamviewer special permission. Anybody know of another remote app that will work on both platforms?

If you like to buy and own SimpleHelp supports MacOS. I've used PC to Linux but I don't have first hand experience with the OSX side of things.

I am running into the same problem (and I just renewed too) . I am now looking at Anydesk which works on both Mac and PC
wow, sweet! I've always used Anydesk for remotes to pc's, back when I started they didn't have a mac version, I just tested it, you can go from pc to mac and it works! (Sierra though, don't know about Mojave) thanks for posting.

I'm pretty sure the issue is how macOS 10.14 security settings are configured, not which app you use. In other words it'll happen with any remote access app. I've had the same issue with Splashtop. Not sure if there is a work around yet since it's just using Accessibility. Might be something you can do via SSH but that would require console access via VPN.

yeah, I messaged anydesk about it, we'll see.

This feature bug is really annoying. If you are installing it on a customer machine you can go ahead and allow what ever app at the same time. Just can't do anything remotely yet. Article below describes it for TV but will be the same for the other apps.

yup I read that before I made this post, I sent it to my customer and instructed her to get me on the phone and I'll have to coach her as I just watch, ridiculous.

AnyDesk has the same accessibility requirements as TeamViewer. No way around it I'm afraid. I'm running both AnyDesk and TeamViewer at the moment.

So far I've connected to their computer and just talked them through what buttons that need clicking to get things started.

I do the same, I talk them through getting started then I take over

I would be glad they are addressing this. The increased security looks like it would stop some of the damned phone scams from succeeding. Sure it makes doing a legitimate remote more difficult, but it's a small price to pay, IMO. I wouldn't be surprised if something similar was included in a Windows update at some point. Of course, with Windows, it will no doubt be easier to hack around it.

At least I'm able to connect and see the customer click their way through the prompts before I'm allowed to interact with the computer. Otherwise it'd be a mighty struggle to help customers running MacOS if I had to rely on them explaining what's going on.

I'd say a good 90% of the customers I help struggle with the Windows' UAC prompt when firing up the TeamViewer client. Have to tell them to click on the yes/allow button every time, even if it's the 10th time I'm helping them.

Yes, this is a PITA , I've put together a quick cheat sheet for me to talk them through with Anydesk. I don't do so many remotes so it will be awkward to say the least.

I like SimpleHelp. I have it on trial. I want to buy it. I emailed them about it asking a couple questions over a week ago, have not heard anything back. So in that regard, they may lose $300 from me and I'll continue to use AnyDesk - which I also pay for.

You or your client needs to enable Accessibility on macOS 10.14 “Mojave”.

Open System Preferences > Security & Privacy
  1. Click the Privacy tab
  2. Select Accessibility from the list
  3. Click the lock icon to make changes
  4. Check the box next to your remote app
If you don’t see the app you’re trying to authorize, you can add them by using the [+] button or simply drag the app from Finder and drop it onto the Accessibility list.
