[Release] Gotcha! Data Backup

Sorry I'm not understanding the question exactly. Can you be more specific. I want to make sure I understand what exactly you are trying to do. I haven't tested much for network paths. But I do want to make sure it works with network paths. I'm not sure if I have enabled the ability to paste a path in the input box for location. I'll enable this ability in the next version. ;)
I mean can we backup outside the user area example people like to save files in c:\example folder.

And yes i pasted the network path

cheers

No it only backs up the built in main areas right now. But soon I plan to add the option to choose alternative locations for backup. Shouldn't be too hard for me to implement this option in an upcoming release. I already have a simular program that was coded to browse for locations to backup to an online ftp (for cloud backup). So I can steal my code from it and implement it into this one. ;) Speaking of which... maybe I'll include the online backup options and implement a schedular in a future version as well. Might come in handy for people who'd like to have their files constantly backed up offsite.

Honestly I'm not sure exactly what it is either. LOL! I don't recall coding anything that deals with it. Where do you see Gotcha reffering to it?

For clarity, my original question was:

"I've noticed both your app and autobackup refer to "DefaultAppPool".

Would you be so kind as to explain what this encompasses?"

When I start Gotcha, I am presented with a screen to select what to backup:

1. System
2. User (Whatever it is called)
3. DefaultAppPool

Prof or those that have used the program -

Does it maintain file/folder timestamps?

It does maintain file stamps. It does not maintain folder stamps. I never even thought about that. I'll go ahead and implement that in a future release as well. Thanks for asking! :)

v0.5.0.2:
Fixed - Data Restore was not working properly. The MD5Hash checking code was messed up. All seems well with the world again. ;)

N.B. Robocopy covers this, don't know if it would help or not. I don't run into clients for whom this is critical everyday, but it's a nice feature to have. There's another old app by JPGriffiths called CopySync Desktop that does it (if you select the option), but it's not widely available these days. I do have a copy of it tucked away...

Thanks!

John

I don't think I'll need a third party utility to do it. I should be able to just check the timestamp on the original folder and modify the new folder with the original timestamp pretty easily.

I used Gotcha! today to backup the Outlook pst files on a customers laptop today. Very easy to do.

Thanks for using the program! I think Gotcha does very well at backing up Microsoft Office PSTs / OSTs and settings. I use my very own method to gather the data needed. It is very quick because it finds everything it needs from the registry instead of scanning the entire drive.

It was very easy to use, used another program to get his email password to set up auto-log-in. Just had to call him to find out his dropbox account details.

Yeah that's the only peice of the puzzle I haven't been able to figure out. How to backup the email password.

Do you mind if I ask what program you used to back it up? I wasn't sure if it was possible. But if there is a program that does it it must be possible.
