How can they market this as being unique? It's identical to the Windows Repair Option, (NOT Recovery Console), but the 2nd Repair option.

Shouldn't they be getting sued or something?

It supposedly has a few additional features (malware scan, optimizer, etc.). I used it a few times when it first came out and that was it. I really don't see a use for it.

Its actually amazingly useful.

I have had many systems that wont boot in any way, including safe mode. No amount of work in an external environment (windows pe, linux) would get the system back. Repair install was failing at random points. On those systems ReImage worked and got me a booting system back. It wasnt completely repaired, but it was close enough that I could finish the job.

It takes less time than most repair installs and does 10x the work.

I hate the nuke&pave method. If I dont have to I dont want to. ReImage saves a lot of systems that even most of us die-hards would end up nuking.

Maybe I should take a look back into it. The few times I used it I didn't have much success and that was using their boot cd. When I initially used it I bought their 10 repair pack which I see isn't on their site anymore. Do they still have a special technician plan Greggh?

I have to second this. I don't use it often but when I do it always comes through for me.

I HATE using the XP CDs to do a system repair because I've had them screw up as many PCs as they've fixed. You have to have the exact version but if certain updates have been made, the system is hosed and in worse shape than when I started.

ReImage doesn't do that as it detects the version of Windows that you have and then applies the appropriate fixes. Its a great tool but not something to rely on. I can't actually remember when I last did a N&P.

I'll third it.....I think it's a great tool to use. Had a few issues here and there but typically super to work with.

Out of curiosity, what do you guys use it the most for? Virus infected machines, machines that won't boot, bsods?

Machines that won't boot if I can't fix it with them with safemode or UBCD4Win, BSODs that I just can't figure out... Only done that once. Essentially, I pull it out when I have no more options. Last step before a N&P.

If you couldn't boot the OS up how did you get to the website? Lol Isn't it online only?

If I was using it from standard web browser within Windows, I'd have to call myself a PT.

Somewhat the same as TimeCode said. I try and determine early on if I am going to need to do this. Sometimes I will just have so much work to get done that I will throw this at slow/non-booting ones to get a lot of the grunt work out of the way.

Lets say I have 4 computers to work on today. 3 are going to take some time and one is a non-booting BSOD. Ill just toss a reimage cd into the BSOD system and maybe one or two of the others while I work on the fourth one. This lets me focus on the machine that I really need to pay attention to. And 7 times out of 10 the other 3 machines, when I do get to them later in the day are at least 50% better off then they were (if not nearly done being fixed.)

I then diagnose any remaining problems on those machines and get back to work fixing them. It saves a lot of time when I have to much work.

I would love to have this in my toolbox for certain situations, but my previous attempts with the boot disks have been huge failures. It's probably been 6 months or so - maybe it's improved. Are most of you using the boot disk option?

PS I see 3 for $79 is the pricing. Is that what most are using?

Yeah I am thinking about giving it a try again as well but with their current pricing plans it seems a bit steep. They used to have a 10 repair plan for $139 I believe. This made it a bit more reasonable. I have an email into them now seeing if they have any other pricing options for techs.

Well they just got back to me. Those two plans are the only ones they say they are offering. The three repair plan breaks down to $26.00 a repair which seems a bit high, at least for me.
