Wondered what everyone uses for recurring billing. Customers monthly payments etc. Any pros or cons to any systems you've tried. Any to stay away from?

Thanks in advance!

Terry

Struggling with this as well. Currently I use PCRT's recurring invoice feature but it causes me a bit of work and isn't a fluent as I think it should be. Looking into Stripe's automatic recurring invoice feature as a possible way of getting things done without much intervention.

We can do recurring invoices just need an auto CC billing option. Sorry I might have not made it clear with my post. Just a way to auto charge customers CC's monthly or every xxMonths.

Just looked at PayPal business. Looks pretty good. Only negative I saw is the extra monthly charge of $30 for recurring payments. Other features look good.

Terry, I have Paypay for business, the $30 a month fee pays for all of my credit card processing too. I get a virtual terminal to take cards on my end. Works great. Good customer support too.

I know with paypal you can do subscriptions with the basic paypal account. I have been thinking of trying this myself or the other option is authorize.net account which would directly interface to my RepairShopr.

I have Paypal Business and works for me. I did look into Authorize.net,but seemed like a bit of work and higher cost than Paypal, though the integration with RepairShopr would be awesome I have to admit.

I've been looking for the perfect solution to this, without paying excessive monthly fees. From what I've seen, the best options are

Authorize.net (my problem here is you need to have 2 SEPERATE accounts, one for online payments, and one for instore).
Stripe (not the easiest to use, designed for web developers)
Paypal for business

I'm currently using a system called payleap, which actually works pretty well, but I have yet to find any software that integrates with it (although Payleap says they have an API to do so, my guess is its not popular enough for people to spend the time/effort for integration).

My dream has always been to have 1 system that does everything with 1 merchant account. But that seems like a pipe dream.

We use Stripe to take automated payments through Repairshopr.

Automatic invoices are created in repairshopr, and we've told it to auto charge the card for the invoice.

Really nice, because not only does the customer get the invoice email, the card is charged and the invoice is automatically updated with the payment too!

Stripe works for recurring payments in RepairShopr?

According to RepairShop App Integration: Enable credit card billing with Stripe.com. We do not currently support swiping or recurring billing with Stripe.

?????

I believe you are correct, you can not swipe a card and store it in Stripe. But you CAN type the card number in manually and have it save for recurring. Basically, you can't use a USB swiper.

That's poorly worded.

You cannot swipe a credit card using a card reader and have it to into Repairshopr with Stripe because Stripe doesn't do "card present" transactions.

Repairshopr will not update a customer's profile with a payment if made directly in Stripe, so it doesn't work with Stripe's recurring billing.

What you do is create the customer in Repairshopr. After creating the account, there's a section for storing a credit card. You add the card to the customer's account.

That then creates the customer in Stripe and adds the card to it.

Next, when you create the recurring invoice, there's a box to check to automatically bill card. You are then given the option to choose the "card on file"

What this does, is Repairshopr generates the invoice, and then bills the card. The invoice is then automatically updated with the payment information.

Been using sage with our PCRT. This has done well for us. We can swipe the card onsite with the tablet PC (we upgraded to Surface Pros) and a USB card swiper provided by sage. For recurring, this still requires two tasks:
1) Create the recurring invoice in PCRT
2) Create the ACH in sage to take place when it is supposed to using the provided information from the client (credit card, check, etc.)

But once we do that, it's all taken care of for us.

How does this work with your terminal in the shop? You mentioned you were setup the same as us with an in shop terminal for low cost swipes and stripe for online or recurring payments right? If a customer who you've setup a recurring stripe payment with also drops off a system in the shop, can you swipe that particular sale with your in-shop terminal easily?
