[SOLVED] Pure Isopropyl Alcohol - Where to Find?

Where might I find high purity isopropyl alcohol for removing thermal grease?
I've only found 90% at Walmart. Is that enough or should I get 99%?

Edit: I just buy 91% IPA from Walgreens. Does the job just fine.

I've never even heard of that store lol...

I live in a town of 5,000 and 7 miles away is a town with 11,000.
Places like Best Buy would have to file bankruptcy if they opened
in a place this small

Also, the next biggest place has 20,000 and it's 1 hour away.
And the next biggest place is in a whole nother state over 3 hours away lol

Try a hardware store, ask for "Denatured Alcohol"

Perhaps try Ebay? I bought mine on ebay for equivalent of $3 including delivery for 99.9% pure.

Excellent for thermal compound removal and also for getting glue off things e.g. cleaning glass of stickiness left by masking tape and getting rid of unsightly marks left after removing sticky labels that shops insist on plastering all over stuff you buy...

Honestly, I've always just used the 91% available at any drug store. Never had a problem with residue. Just make sure you get the plain stuff, nothing with any dyes or oils.

I know some on here will say OMG DONT DO THAT... but I will tell you I have had VERY GOOD luck with it and never had any problems. I use Window Cleaner like Windex. If I have to use Alcohol then I use 90% and follow up with Windex.

I don't remember where I learned this but I have been doing so for around 3 years. I use Windex on almost everything I have never had any electronics short out (not used while powered up) and it leaves it streak free

My old grand pappy has a distillery up deep in the hills of Kentucky. This stuff will knock you on your ass if you don't water it down with some cranberry juice or something though.

Oh mix it with cranberry juice................. Now all you achieve is getting knocked on your ass along with the Sh!ts. Oh this isn't going to look or smell good when you get up.

isopropyl alcohol != denatured alcohol.

They're two different animals.

I suspect that denatured alcohol would work in place of isopropyl, but I've only seen isopropyl recommended and only use it myself.

I got mine at a local drug store for 4x the 70% variant.
it says "not less than 99%"
