I know this one has been covered in the past however I can't find the thread.

I am fed up of buying plastic case opening tools to have them break the 1st/2nd time I use them.

I am currently using the following tools
1 - cheap and nasty, break all the time, BUT the correct shape and generally most effective

2 - again cheap, pretty durable, BUT the shape is not ideal in a lot of scenarios

3 - metal so much more durable, was very expensive although considering it will pretty much last forever I guess not that expensive. It is good though, it just doesn't work in a lot of scenarios as the metal would damage the soft plastics that some laptop manufacturers use

Really? I quit using any type of metal tools on plastic case parts a long time ago. Go to your favorite music store (that sells guitars) and pick up a bunch of guitar picks of various thicknesses. Since I (have been known to) play both guitar and electric base guitar I have various sizes (shapes) and thicknesses.

I also use my fingers when opening cases. And for some reason I (almost) always forget to take at least 1 screw out of the bottom of a laptop and wonder why I can't get the danged thing apart! 'Guess it comes from old age settling in.

Don't forget tricky laptops..some have a keyboard release hole..bastards :P
Need to poke a small thin tool, i use a wooden skewer to push in and release in k/b hole on back cover.
