Personal Carry

Im shocked at the responses in this thread and the thread itself!

Perhaps it's because i'm from the UK and carrying a gun here will get you rushed by about 20 armed police.

I like your logo.....
I can envision it saying:

Rapid Response......armed and ready!

Not bashing, it just caught my eye....nothing personal.

Peace!

Not if it is concealed and the police don't know you have it. Either way to rush someone for having a gun is just weird. What is wrong with having one as a lawful citizen?

I am not suggesting flaunting it around or "Brandishing A Firearm" or making people uncomfortable...

I agree, it's a mad situation, but they've always been able to do it so I guess it's normal for them.

Carrying a knife here is dodgy enough - that's why I stick with my trusty toothpick :)

If I'm correct....I believe once upon a time....your country allowed it also in some form or another.

That was before you were deemed not worthy of a firearm, they are just reserved for the criminals.

Not bashing you.........maybe bashing your government for this reason..

From Wikipedia, not sure how true it is but:

In the United Kingdom in 2009 there were 0.07 recorded intentional homicides committed with a firearm per 100,000 inhabitants; for comparison, the figure for the United States was 3.0, about 40 times higher

So firearms just for the criminals results in 40 times less deaths per 100K than firearms for anyone who wants one.

It's just the way it is, personally I'd hate to live somewhere where firearms are given to anyone. But that's just my opinion.

I'm not sure about the right to bear arms, but I think people should certainly have a right to bear nukes! ;)

I carry a Kahr K9 9mm and sometimes a backup Kel-tec P-32. I also carry two knives, one for utility use and the other for defense. I would not even think of leaving my home without at least one gun and one knife.

Except for Iran.......they are nutty enough to use them on themselves!

Thank God I'm in the USA.
With you guys packing so many guns down there, I feel the same way. Thank god you're there, not here. :)

If a gun gets fired here, it will be in the news for days. There was an armed robbery about 4 months ago, local paper just ran a piece about how the second guy was just found and charged.

Don't get the yanks started on gun control please! I'd rather have an argument with a islamic fundamentalist about atheism - it would get less heated believe me.

The government are not suppressing us. The UK public do not want firearms believe me. It's perfecty democratic. Anyone is free to set up a pro gun party and try to get votes. They won't get any. We don't want guns. We don't want the the same level of gun deaths you guys have even if it means our government could turn into a Commie totalitarian state at any second!

Depends which Wikipedia page you read..
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_firearm-related_death_rate
Shows US is higher..10.x per 100k. And England higher too...0.46.

Also it's smart to factor in "homicides" overall...no matter what the weapon. If a gun isn't available...people will find something else. Now the gap between the UK and the US closes.

Its different in the USA guys. Well, other than California (Its pretty much the UK with nicer weather).

The question I think was if you carry and what. Not if you believe in gun control or no.

An armed robbery........you mean they didn't take the guns from the criminals?

So, only the criminals can get guns, not a law abiding citizen?

That makes sense!

My wife and I have been looking at carrying. Mostly for her when she's at the shop and for me if I'm onsite with a new customer. Better to have and not need than need and not have?

Yes, and stop going on about fixing computers.

Good one!

Maybe we could get a moderator to move this thread to General Chat, as it's drifting away from computer repair.

That way we can continue to beat each other up!

In a fun loving way of course.

Everybody is entitled to their opinion.

Personally I'm enjoying the debate!

Good one!

I did have a guy once who wanted his old drive back to have target practice, so nobody could get his information!

Don't know if he really did........more than likely he did.

Trying to debate gun control is like trying to convert an atheist to Christianity. A complete waste of time and people will just end up getting flamed for retardation. Move this to general chat and stick to the subject "do you carry, and if so what?" If you don't carry just say so and leave or better yet don't reply at all.

Trying to debate something like this is only going to result in a locked thread.

Very nice... The Glock 17 holds 19+1 9mm. Do you buy the Hollow Point bullets?

Yes, I always use Hollow Points for personal carry, I like the Federal Premium Hydra-Shok.

Better to have and not need than need and not have?

I agree with this. I hope I never have to use my gun on someone, but would rather have it in case I need to protect myself or my family one day.
