Personal Carry

An armed robbery........you mean they didn't take the guns from the criminals?

So, only the criminals can get guns, not a law abiding citizen?

That makes sense!

I find that quite a tired rhetorical argument that forces the focus on the perceived "fairness" of gun ownership rather than the effects of gun ownership. You might as well say "so only criminals get free money (when they steal it) but law abiding people have to work for it. That makes sense!". Well yes of course - being criminals they are break certain laws and that includes stealing money and/or having a gun. Likewise only illegal drug-takers get access to pot and coke and speeding motorists get to ride as fast as they like.

I think what he is trying to say is that the criminals will always have access to the guns and we need to level the playing field by making sure the good guys also have them. Why are you afraid of non-criminals having guns? Thats a rhetorical question. I'll tell you why. Its based on the notion that the gun makes you a bad person. Because this is what the Gov. has told you to be true. The gun does not make you a bad guy any more than a car makes you a drunk driver.

Ok..

I don't carry a gun.

Good deal. I think we could also do without the left wing slanted article as well.

My point exactly....criminals will get guns (or whatever), no matter how many or what kinds of law you impose on ALL citizens.

I'm sure the people deeply involved in the drug trade and have access to it, are not all "illegal drug-takers". Too much money involved for the "smart people" to use......they only want to sell and get the profits.

If we make the speed limit 15mph throughout the country, just think of the lives we could save. Or, do you think we will be the only ones doing 15mph.

Not to get off topic.......but in the U.S criminals do get "free money", it's called welfare....and I don't want to get another topic started!

Peace.

Your article about carrying a gun increasing your risk of getting shot makes sense. The same way that buying a car increases your risk of being in a car accident, and flying in a plane increases your risk of being in a plane crash

This thread could head downhill pretty fast, lol

Actually.....flying in a plane does increase your risk of being in a plane crash.
LOL.....I get you point.

Did you know that if you get a "porn popup" and it stores a cookie and your wife finds it, your must be a "porn addict".

I once had to clean a "porn" virus from a nun's computer! You should have seen her try and explain that one to me!

She kept getting "popups" at the diocese office while at work.

I even explained to her boss how that can happen to anyone.....not just people surfing for porn.

Of all the criminals in this country only a tiny minority have guns so the law still ends up producing less criminals with guns and 40-50 times less gun killing. Makes sense to me given that the main thing that bothers me is not being shot.

This is what I have been saying for a few posts now. It was not meant to be a debate but more of a poll. Then some anti-gun guys started in and right down the tubes.

You know.......I was going to ask this same question a while back, but new where it would go.

Thumbs up to the original poster for having the *alls to ask it.

Ok back on topic please.

What do you guys carry? Anyone here carry a concealed weapon? Like a Glock or a Smith and Wesson M&P? Its not a debate on the reasons but the make/type :)

Make another thread for other discussions. I've moved it to general chat, I don't want my customers being scared away, it's difficult enough to get them in the first place :p

So Charles Branas's team at the University of Pennsylvania analysed 677 shootings over two-and-a-half years to discover whether victims were carrying at the time, and compared them to other Philly residents of similar age, sex and ethnicity.

677 shootings in Philly.....how many do you think were gang related? Of course of those shootings most likely if you were carrying a gun you would get shot.

You have been asked to keep posts on-topic.

I have a XD subcompact in .40 that I like, need to find a better holster for it . I have been looking at a Sig P238 as well, seems quite nice.

Now before anyone jumps to conclusions let me state that I'm an NRA lifer. Having said that, I think this whole thread is a mistake and here is why:

The forum it's posted in is searchable by the general public.

For the guys doing onsite servicing of consumers, I doubt the public at large likes the idea of having the repair guy strapped.

For those doing SMB or Enterprise work you are most likely violating their corporate policies if going onsite while carrying.

This poll/discussion would be better on a gun related forum imho.
