I have an easynote f7305 laptop and when i turn it on it brings up POST then shows the xp loading screen. Then all of a sudden it brings up multi colours screen then just comes to a halt. Im not sure at all what it may be. I am using a 19v power supply but thats the voltage that it is supposed to take.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks :)

I didn't know PB was still in business. I haven't seen one in years!!!

Since you mention the PS, I am going to assume that it is not original... How many Amps is the PS putting out? How many is the laptop expecting?

Since you get to the Windows splash screen before the screen goes wonky, my first thought would be a corrupt video driver. Have you tried booting up in Safe Mode and watching the services load? This would tell you how far you're getting and give an approximation as to what would come next... You might discover where its failing.

Tried to boot into safe mode and just cut out. Then check the power supply, it is ouputing 19V and 3.2A but I now see the laptop is expecting 19V 6.2A would this be the cause of the problem. The supply was taken from another laptop.

Would you recommend eBay for a new charger lol

How are you reading the amps? Amps can be tricky to measure as the power supply is only going to dish out the amps that it's asked for. So, if you're reading 3.2A its probably because the computer is only drawing 3.2A.

Try using a boot disk such as UBCD for Win. You can also run some diagnostics on the hard drive. Maybe a repair install. I don't think it's your powersupply though, you probably wouldn't get to the splash screen if it was.

Thanks for your reply. At the bottom of the laptop there is a label from the manufacturer which says that the input must be 19V 6.32a

At the bottom of my charger it says output 19V 3.2a

This is why I figured it may be that causing the problem

Hope this helps

That could be a problem. But it still bothers me that you get to the splash screen. Does this laptop have a good battery? Try it on battery power. Oh, I still suggest you try the options in my first post.

The battery would not be the greatest to be honest. I think the computer only starts drawing more power after post which is why i think it may not be getting enough power to continue. I didnt realise about the different amps but i will try the ubcd also and see what happens. Thanks again for you advice

Ordered a new P/S from eBay at £13.99 delivered which is pretty good. It should hopefully sort the problem out. Thanks again:)

+1! I thought they died out a long time ago. I need to see one, for nostalgic purposes of course!

EDIT: Looks like they do not do business in the US anymore?

As requested....I got this one yesterday. They asked if I could upgrade it to Vista, lol.
