It shouldn't be this hard. (What? How hard can it be for MS to have Outlook be able to import it's own .ost file?)
Well..the post here began with a failed hard drive, right? Outlooks PSTs are a database. Database files are often at higher risk for corruption, especially if it was up and running during the failure. Variables such as, the larger the PST, and the less system RAM on the machine, file was likely "open" and even higher risk for corruption. Add intrusive antivirus real time protection trying to grope the PST all the time...
