So I have a user with a strange issue I haven't come across before.

When the user first opens outlook 2013 in the morning any emails received since 12am don't appear (but the unread email's number seems to update fine).

-Have checked all view settings and even tried resetting the view.
-Mobile phone device shows all emails fine.
-Can send a test email from user account to herself in outlook, the unread email number goes up one but the email doesn't appear, cannot find email searching for it either
-recreated new mail profile, all email now appears, but then the next morning the same issue happens.
-have noticed if I go to the Deleted Items, and then back to Inbox all of that mornings email that were missing all of a sudden appear

Has anyone come across something like this before?

Is this connected to an Exchange server? If so...close Outlook...delete the .OST file in the users profile (it's in a hidden directory)...launch Outlook again....the OST will rebuild..Outlook will take a few minutes to rebuild the fresh OST. Should behave now.

I would start by clearing all the filters.. here is my blog about it. http://callthatgirl.biz/how-to-clear-all-imap-folders-in-outlook-with-filters-applied/

It's so common with IMAP, I just clear it immediately now on every computer.
I discovered this the hard way, Lisa. I sent hours banging my head trying to figure out for a client why their Outlook 2013 was not syncing with their 365 app online. Filters. Specifically a weird line of code in the filter that told it to not show deleted items. Even though none of her missing mail was deleted. Strangest thing ever.

You don't even want to know how many clients I cleared each folder's filter out one by one until I found the easy way. And the best part was when I had a gmail migration of 12 people and found each needed a filter cleared, I swore I was going to find the fix prior to this and figured it out!

So what's the deal with this? The filter seems to be the default. Even made her a new profile. Same problem. Outlook bug?

I can remote in and help. I'm free right now.
I got it fixed. But I'm asking just in general if you have any idea why Outlook does this on such a widespread level? Programming bug?

Oh and sorry about the other night where I was like, "help!!!! I need help!! I'm not okay." I was working on something for a client at 3am. I got some sleep, and then the answer came to me. Hahaha

As far as I know, it's a default setting for IMAP and Outlook 2013 to add filters. I have seen it in Outlook 2010 though many times.

I dream in work sequences many nights. I either fix a problem that I'm working on or I dream of things about work I'm not working on and my Six Sigma champion comes out, until I figure out that I'm not billing the client and realize wtf am I doing taking on projects without billing!
