A client of mine is having VoIP phones installed tomorrow. Yesterday their vendor emailed me and asked I’m contacting you to see if you can setup DHCP option 66 on the USG. DHCP option 66 needs to be setup to point to 12.34.56.78. This will be used for the phones to pull their configs."
(note, that's not the actual IP he gave, thought it best not to post the actual public IP address he gave me)
No problem, I thought. A quick Google search turns up this
https://help.ubnt.com/hc/en-us/articles/360012097513-UniFi-USG-How-to-Configure-Custom-DHCP-Options
Looks like exactly what I need. I go about adding option 66, similar to the example they show. BUT, the drop down that lists all the codes leaves out 66 as a choice, it blows right by it. All other numbers seem to be there.
So digging a little further it seems that Option 66 is used for pointing devices to a TFTP server and in VoIP that's where each phone gets it's config on boot. So I went to Settings, Networks, Edit Network - LAN, then expanded Advanced DHCP Options I see a field for DHCP TFTP Server.
Will filling in the IP address they provided in that field accomplish what's needed? In other words, Option 66 and TFTP go together, and that's why 66 isn't available from the drop down because of this choice elsewhere in the GUI?
