{ONSITE !} Adding Google Apps Email Client won't Autheticate

Adding Google Apps user to Outlook for Mac 2011

With FQDN Username (jay@thatdomain.com)

POP: pop.gmail.com SSL 995
SMTP: smtp.gmail.com SSL 465

SMTP authetication : entered FQDN info

*** Can login at google.com/a with no worries at all ***

Returns this error:

The server for account returned the error "[AUTH] Username and password not accepted.." Your username/password or security settings may be incorrect. Would you like to try re-entering your password?

Have also tried IMAP and Mac Mail same error !

Anyone have any thoughts this is a really important client and I ain't looking to good right at this moment...

Try resetting your password...

Done and Done without any success

Have cleared Apple Keychain for the Gmail also

Authenticates and works perfectly with:

iPhone
iPad
And Outlook 2010 on a Windows Machine (different network though)

It's puzzling !

And works perfectly for the other 13 users ..

<Grrrr...>

Am revisiting site tomorrow morning... probably will a have a 5.30am Eureka Moment..

No 2-factor-authentication turned on? Most apps dont understand Googles 2-factor so you can get Google to generate a unique password for each "dumb" app.

Have confirmed (that was one of my first thoughts)... Am back onsite tomorrow morning...

Further can confirm works with:

iPhone
iPad
And Outlook 2010 on a Windows Machine (different network though)

It's puzzling !

Have tried both IMAP and POP, and same authentication error...

It is just weird, have spoken with some other Techs as well, and one mentioned that the only other time he'd seen this was due to the ISP provider blocking Ports, however since 13 other users all having email working it's unlikely...

Hopefully this won't become a Tale from the Frontline

Try changing SMTP to TLS with port 587. (just in case.... who knows.)

Arrived onsite this morning open Outlook 2011 for Mac and it just works, fully tested and it just works, most likely due to multiple logins for disparate locations (Office, Remote Session & The use's home office in the U.S)

All the advice and pointers appreciated !
