Like it says, I can receive emails, I cannot send, with Windows Live Mail 2012. Using GMAIL as the good ole exchange server.

Here are the settings for you guys...snipped of course:

smtp.gmail.com - 465 (SSL)
imap.gmail.com - 993 (SSL)
Both servers are ticked for "This server requires a secure connection"

Username/Password are correct. No settings have been changed, problem just started yesterday. No changes to the system.

Issue starts with when you open Windows Live Mail 2012, a pop-up appears saying the server has disconnected due to inactivity. But the client can still receive emails from imap.gmail.com (which is the same server as the smtp).

When you click on Send/Receive, the following error code appears: 0x800CCC0B

System is a Windows 7 Home Premium.

What I've done:
Cleared the outbox. Does nothing when you create a test message. So doubtful that it is hung email. double checked the settings, and even tried with Port 25 and 587. Same result. Can not send email. I have "repaired" Windows Live Mail, I have uninstalled Windows Live Mail and then reinstalled. Same results. I've checked the firewalls (both Desktop and Router), and neither are blocking. Compared settings/configurations with another client who uses Windows Live Mail for their Gmail account, and that client IS NOT having problems and have the same configurations, and ISP.

There are no error logs that have anything to do with this. Just your typical DCOM junk, and WLAN warnings. Client has no other issues with the system, or connectivity. I'm at a crossroads of is it the Application or is Google? It could also be something in between, but I'm still leaning towards Application.

My next move is to install Thunderbird or Outlook. If I missed anything, let me know.

Other things I've tried:

Looks to me like you already know the answer! :D
Will never again use Windows Live Mail. Between these type of issues and the general lack of features, its useless. Thunderbird is my mail app these days, better than Outlook IMO. And it can sync Google calendar without an unsupported piece of software (Google Calendar Sync), just need the right plugins...
Good info though! Wish everyone gave us that much!

I would run Geek Uninstaller or Revo Uninstaller on Live Mail and delete registry settings. Also, find where it files the files are stored and rename the folder or delete it all. Some corruption might be around.

@Xander: smtp.googlemail.com was a no-go.

@BrentfromZulu: I'm gonna remove Windows Live Mail. I went back, and looked through some history for this client, cause this isn't the first gmail issue we have had.

Back in October 2013, he was using Outlook (2010; totally forgot he was using this before). We took him off Outlook, cause nothing we did cause get it to work right. He got the copy of Outlook from his work, so it was no cost to him. We used WLM from there, no problems. In December, his whole HDD took a dump, not recoverable within cost effectiveness. Nothing of any importance on it. So we slapped in a new drive, and got him up and going on Windows 7 from Vista (vista had all kinds of problems for him). We reinstalled the Outlook. What do you know, it didn't want to work. Couldn't send, couldn't receive, and outlook just wanted to crash after a few minutes. So we went back to WLM rather quickly. WLM has been working since then, and now that it isn't...no point in trying to back to Outlook, so moving forward to Thunderbird.

Thanks for the help guys. I think this is one of those problems that escalates rapidly. I'll let you know if Thunderbird works in tomorrow.
