To Use Automatic System Cleaner, just select the desired check-boxes and click "Execute"

The Options tab is the default tab. It contains basic running options for the program. It is highly recommended that you keep the "Create a Restore Point" checkbox checked. Creating a restore point allows you to restore your computer to how it was before the program ran in case something breaks. When using the program on a computer that is not connected to the internet, you can uncheck the "Force File Update" check-box, and it will use previously downloaded files. If they are old, or don't exist, you must run "Update Files" on a computer with an internet connection first. Changes made by several options require a system reboot to take effect. If you are running some options on Windows 7, windows will act strangely until rebooted.

The Scans/Security Tab allows you to execute scans with several popular programs. CCleaner Cleans out temporary system files, which saves space and makes subsequent scans faster. RegSeeker scans the registry for errors and fixes them. Vipre Rescue is a one time scanner made by Sunbelt Software. It is a very effective freeware scanner version of their commercial anti-virus product. Updating the Hosts file makes your computer not see specific websites known to contain malware. Removing Toolbars and Search Hooks makes web browsing faster and more secure by removing unnecessary components.

The performance tab is designed to speed up slow computers. Removing unneeded autoruns prevents the computer from starting programs when you log in that you don't need. This has the largest and most widespread benefit on most computers. Resetting the services to default values can undo damage done by some programs and user mistakes. When "Use Performance Settings" is checked, it disables many services that most people don't need. Do not use this setting with computers that are on a domain *(Note to home users: you most likely aren't on one, they are used in some corporate environments, generally not home computers). Streamline Acrobat Reader disables some GUI plugins that people don't usually use. This drastically increases Acrobat Reader Performance.

The Maintenance tab is mainly tasks that should be run periodically. Both defrag settings will give a disk performance boost. CheckDisk finds and disables bad segments of the hard drive, and performs some file-system maintenance. Resetting the file and registry permissions can fix several issues, including some issues when trying to install windows service packs. Process Idle Tasks executes the entire pending idle tasks que, and has some performance benefits.

The Win Fixes tab provides several fixes to common windows issues. Some issues are quite common, and others are just labor intensive to fix manually.

Has anyone tested this app? I always a little skeptical with a generic looking website? Looks like an awesome utility, just don't want to get myself in trouble.

It has everything checked as default, if you click that execute button you can cause more work for yourself then it worth. It also launches the browser and takes you to there website when you open it...

Just had a brief look but it looks promising, but yeah, as stated make sure you untick the boxes you don't need (there's a button to do that on the start page). Also I think you can stop the webpage opening by unticking the bottom box on the start page ("Open help when this program starts"). It can also be run from the command line, maybe I'll recommend it to Methical for his script

Tested it on my vertual machine i unchecked the [open help when program started] and [update host file] the rest i left to run after finishing all seems to be ok with no ill effects.will keep ye all posted if anything goes wrong or went wrong. so far all is well.

Not sure how long ago but revision 1.9 of this I toyed with awhile back (within virtual environment) and saw no adverse effects but would definitely say I don't yet have complete confidence in it as of yet, had hoped to test more then suggest as Repair Tool of the Week...guess now we can see how this works out with the newer revision and more people testing it though, look forward to hearing others results with the program. :)

I have not yet reviewed this software but did find this review from a user on CNET:

Any program that irresponsibly includes cleaning the Prefetch folder should never be used or recommended because it demonstrates the author has absolutely not idea how the feature works. If he does not understand a feature so well documented what else does he not understand? Windows automatically cleans the prefetch folder at 128 entries back down to the 32 most used items. Cleaning the folder for any other reason is a waste of time and will cripple windows and all your applications load times. Google "XP Myths"
