Well, I have been sporting a Logitech Mx518 for years!

Bought it for a mere $39.99 + shipping many years back, and as of yesterday it started moving erratically though the sensor is NOT dirty.

All I can say is Dang. I love my 5+ button Logitech mice. It started with the Mx500 probably two decades ago, and that lasted maybe three (3) years. Regardless, I loved it and just for shits contacted Logitech back then via email, and they replaced it with another, new Mx500 free of charge!

That just kept going and maybe three to five years later, I upgraded to the Mx518, which has been perfection.

****************

I contacted support, and they are still great! Anyway, they agreed to replace it free of charge, only they don't make it nor anything like it anymore. Instead, they offered me a G300s, which looks great, but it has no side buttons, so the guy offered a G502s, which looked like a transformer, etc.

They were definitely willing to go above and beyond the call of duty. I ended up settling for a M500. I figure it has all the buttons I actually use and a laser sensor.... I am a little disappointed though.

Ultimately, I also ordered the G400s on Amazon for $70, which is a ripoff, but they don't make that anymore, and it is in the same form factor as what I am used to. It's probably the perfect successor to the MX518; I hope.

This is what I had:

This is what I bought to replace it because they don't make this anymore, either :-(:

This is what Warranty is Sending (per my request):

These are pretty much their current offerings :-(

This is what I am talking about... I don't want to figure out how to operate one of these:

Good on Logitech for trying to take care of you!

I've got a G400--it replaced a similar Logitech mouse that I bought for $59.99 which they don't make anymore either... it now goes for a couple hundred if you can find it.

I hear what you're saying about the "transformer" mice... lots of what they make now has lots of bits and bobs I don't seem to use. I just like the contour that fits my hand, the sensitivity buttons and a thumb button. I don't need 18 macro keys or even 3 near my thumb. :p

Seems that most of the newer mice are more aimed for the gamer market. Hence all of the buttons. I'm happy with a plain-jane optical - wired or wireless doesn't much matter to me. More buttons = more mistakes (for me.)

This is my mouse, $10 ....

... When it dies I replace it with the same thing. I feel nothing....

I definitely know the feeling. I just replaced a MX510 last year that I had for over 10 years. The side buttons were finally wearing down. Years of computer use and gaming on it I just replaced with an AZIO Blue Led Gaming mouse and I love it. I still use the MX510 for my test bench though, works fine for casual use.

what great customer service had a couple of Logitech keyboards that started to go on the blink and they changed them both straight away

I love mice with extra buttons (other than just the 2 on the side).

I map them to things I use a lot...
Such as one for copy and one for paste.

Still using my MX510 also. Can't even remember when I got it originally, but its outlasted several of my computers. The only issue with it is that I think it looks stupid, and I always have. Its a problem I have with many other mice also, especially the Razer ones.

I pretty much just use standard two button mice. I use so many different mice ever day I prefer to just keep it simple. I have an M510 which has the two buttons on the side but I never use them. I used to back in the day for gaming (the two on the side).
