No desktop no icons at start up

Hi all, i got this laptop that has no desktop icons and no start bar when it goes to desktop, I have come accross this issue before but ive lost my notes on the registry fix for this problem.

Could someone please post me the steps to fix this as i cannot find it anywhere on google

first right-click on the desktop > arrange icons by > check "show desktop icons".

Otherwise you may have more serious problems.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\Shell = Explorer.exe

If HKCU\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\Shell exists, just delete it.

oh oh! i figured it a better way press ctrl alt delete, new task and type explorer.exe and there back :O there are many viruses on it so i'm running scans now.

looks like this problem is fixed, i wont have use that registry fix again if this way works
