No call outs for 14 days now :(

Those flyers are great! :D btw what's wrong with the wording on my flyer then exactly ? and what would you change about it ? I didnt know a copywriter comes up with slogans for adverts.

Not they are not, they look like a business, customers dont care about businesses, they care about themselves. Leaflets that are too 'full on' get chucked in the bin, especially if they are pushed through thier own letterbox, trespassing on their homes, thier own space, trying to sell your business they dont care about.

Customers (bless em) should be reeled in with something informative, newsworthy, get them thinking that you are useful. Then selling to them seems natural, you are thier friend helping them out.

Ok so ive just posted on guru.com explaining what i'm after, I'll edit it about the flyer not being too business like or full on. :p I've been looking at other flyers for ideas but most ive seen are too cluttered with crap so i'm gonna keep mine simple and to the point.

i'll keep you posted how the design of the new leaflet goes;)

Great Thread!

I have learned so much from reading all that everyone has to say. I have been considering starting a new advertising venture and with all the great advice given here, I'm closer to starting it. Or at least closer to planning it. :D

A question for everyone who does more business to business selling over business to home selling... Do you think it advantageous to go door to door, do direct mail, or cold-calling? Or do you have another idea? In short, what has been your most successful B2B sales route? And does announcing Certs help at all?

I detect

I detect a lack of self-confidence. If you really love computer tech then you have to throw yourself into it. I know its hard to make a commitment at your age. It sounds to me (please take no offense) that you really lack the people skills, the marketing skills and hustle (make a buck) skills. All these skills can be obtained in short order. I opened my first business at the age of 21.

First, you need to present yourself as a professional. Dress like other professionals in your field. Haircut and grooming, mouthwash, clean teeth and nails. Good clothes and shoes. You need to have a professional business card. Professional looking advertising. Professional rate of $50 per hour. Practice talking into a mirror. What do you see? Because that is what others see. Talk slower, more confident. Maybe work for someone else for 6 months.

Some of the issues make be because your father is in the business. You need to decide if there are issues, what are they and work them out. Sometimes, the second generation feels they are entitled to the same success that the first generation currently enjoys. They don't see that it was a long haul to get from point "a" to point "b".

You need to read about marketing and take notes. I strongly recommend www.claudewhitacre.com he's a great guy and knows marketing. I also recommend "How to sell anything to anyone" it's a very good book. I am going to try to send you a copy of my newspaper ad.

Lastly, you need to go out there and hustle, meet business people in a professional setting. That is networking -- meeting people that will need your service. Go to wakes, be visible. When you go into a store and buy something leave your business card. Leave your business card. Smile, alot.
