New uses for toothbrush (tool of the week?)

I am not saying you cannot use or that it is going to be a notable problem to use alcohol, what I am saying is doing so leaves behind a film whereas using the alternative does not, it isn't enough to matter to most but I am so very picky about some things I just wished to make this known for those that were not aware. :) I cannot recall where this information came from (too LONG ago) to provide a link but I feel it was then and is now true and using the highest % of pure alcohol is ideal, so 99% should be a good choice as well. Considering it is on a microscopic level we're talking I doubt it matters enough to worry though in the end so use whatever ya got....:D

I think using any of the alcohol solutions will leave much less contaminant behind compared to scraping off the paste making it the preferred method. I had never heard of scraping the paste off before this thread. :)

Really I guess you can think of it as a squeegee type deal once the TIM is somewhat dissolved, it wipes away easily and then a lint free cloth or paper towel or whatever gets used gives it a nice final touch. It is really more along the lines of being "more than one way to skin a cat" and each chooses their favorite method.

I really can't see why this offering has generated so much heat. Perhaps some have been drinking the alcohol?

:D

Surely if's obvious - scrape off the worst, then finish with finishing solution or compound of your choice.

PS: the scraper is also useful for cleaning poking other things you don't want to use a metal tool for.
