Hello Fellow Techs, Im a Tech here in Winnipeg, MB Canada. Run my own Company Called Nothing But Tech (NBT) Been Doing Business out of my Home for the past 6 years and this year im opening up a Store Front. Location! Im almost there just working on the lease.

But one of my Questions for Today is: Where is the best place to Buy and or get Cables, General Cables, SATA cables, Alll the cables and nic naks of computer cabling. For builds and what not?

Thanks

You know the routine. Pick a representative amount of what you think you'll need and then compare prices. Here in central Florida, there are very few stores we can physically go to (e.g. Best Buy, Staples). They're usually expensive but sometimes you have to do it when you need something "right now". Otherwise, we'll usually order thru Amazon (we have Prime) or NewEgg.

I usually use monoprice for Ethernet cabling and all associated with it (tips, conduits...etc), internal computer stuff like SATA cables I usually have left over from old computers we recycled. I bought a bag of molex connectors a long time ago and still have many. For the other cables like VGA, HDMI, universal power adapter, sub cables/extensions I'll try to buy a bunch at a time off amazon, but I usually only go with a brand I trust, because cables greatly vary in quality. Although, depending how large you are you might feel safer buying your cables from somewhere more stable, for instance to reorder something from a third party on Amazon might not be as easy if the seller was removed. For more consistent products, you buy the same product from the same person, and it's way easier to do that with a specific supplier than someone a product on Amazon.

For on the spot stuff I'm from
New Jersey, and we have a Microcenter about an hour away, if it's urgent I'll stop there while traveling around.

First off, congratulations! It's great you've grown and can take that next step. :)

Do you have a proper supplier, such as D&H, IngramMicro, etc? I took a quick glance... right now at D&H I can get a 14 ft Cat 5e for just over $2 in all colours of the rainbow, or a SATA cable for about the same. I placed an order a little while ago for various lengths of network cable, general power cords, SATA, USB, etc. I received 20 cables for about $100.

If that's not an option for you, Monoprice seems competitive to those rates. The only snags might be more expensive due to the conversion (I think they're US based?) and longer wait time.

Good luck!

Thankfully, we have 2 mom and pop shops in town that offer very reasonable cable prices (with a huge selection, including those rare needs). I'll go through one of them more often than not, unless there's something else I want to order at the same time. In that case, I usually go with Amazon or Newegg.

I assume you mean the one in Patterson. I nice store but I hope you go to them during the day. LoL.

You might try ebay if you know someone who knows how to really evaluate vendors and I mean past the normal ratings you will find some great places to get parts. My assistant is an expert at that and she gets stuff at amazing prices and great quality from real (not bootleg) brands.
