Started having network issues and couldn't find a specific thing to point the finger at.
Setup a new modem/router, checked all the cables with a Fluke, changed a couple, (PITA cause they go up into the ceiling and spread to every room in the house!) updated the firmware on the UTM....
Got my answer today when my D-Link DES-1016D suddenly started to "smell bad."
It's been in continuous service for about 10 years with 7 devices connected. Not bad for a cheap switch.
I unplugged it and replaced it with a D-Link DGS-1100-08 that I had on the shelf.
Nice little unit (only 8 ports) but works great! I wonder will it last as long?
Love all the blinky lights....
