netowrk connection issue

are there other computers on same network online?
It doesn't have a static IP right? if not, have you tried assigning the NIC a static IP?

I was thinking along the same lines. Is the system configured for DHCP or has any information been entered in manually? Could be the Gateway IP that's causing the issue.

Additionally, you mentioned that "This pc has hardly anything installed on it, no antivirus, no firewall, nothing" and that the issues started happening after Windows updates were installed. Try scanning the system by booting off an updated antivirus CD like Avira Rescue CD or Dr. Web Live CD and scan the system. Not a bad idea to try Malwarebytes (from within Windows) also.

I have tried malwarebytes and super antispyware and both of them found nothing, both updated as well. I checked the gateway and ip settings and they all seem to be inline 255.255.255.0 and 192.168.1.8 i beleive is what it is, im not in front of it at the moment.

How would I go about uninstalling netowrk protocals? I am not really sure what you mean by that, thanks again everyone. If I cant figure this out soon I think I am just going to reinstall windows becuase like I said, There is really nothing but windows on here anyway :/

I figured it out!!

I am really proud of myself right now, I was just about to do a reformat on this thing when I finally figured out what the problem was!!

I was doing a driver backup with double driver and it showed a Symantic Network Filter driver or something like that, dont exactly remember what it was. So i fired up the norton removal tool and I was able to get on the internet!!!

Curse you norton!

:):)

LOL I did tell you if there way security software installed... lol... glad you got it working. So norton puts in a driver for networking... DAM THEM...

Well, I didnt see anything on Revo to uninstall, the customer didnt mention anything after I ASKED him if there was anything. There were no norton folders, so maybe he didnt know it and someone installed it, figured out the internet was acting funny and then uninstalled it and deleted the folders, thats all I can think of lol.
