Netgear dual band usb slow with excellent connection?

Hi just picked up a netgear-ac600-dual-band-a6100 usb adapter for a hp tower with a weak wifi card. I can't understand why I'm only getting 30mb when the speed is 200mb on other laptops on the same 5ghz network. In the adapter properties it says 230mbps and all bars. I tried all drivers, old and new from netgear, still slow, ideas?
