I have a client who pays well, but usually tries to fix it himself before contacting me. I just received an HP pavilion g series which needs the keyboard replaced.

Small issue - he already removed it and misplaced the keyboard. I've never had to source a replacement without having the numbers from the old board to identify it.

Suggestions on how to i.d. & order the proper keyboard? I'm kinda hesitant to order by just using the laptop model number. I've never done that, but I have heard of people who have and ended up with the incorrect one.

once identified and installed all good, charge extra for being a fktard and complicating things.

lol - you don't know the half of it. And yes, I charge him for "aggravation expense"

Thanks for the help, much appreciated.

Some ppl just dont deserve it. Others out there are struggling - damn I gave away a refurb laptop to a lady that was in a heap of dire financial shite.
Wasn't anything flash but she was stoked as. As she is getting food from donations atm to support her family as well.

Fair play to you. Sapphirescales would have charged her $40,000

Props to you!

I do that as well. I refurbed an HP a few yrs. ago, it was adequate enough for a freebie, so I gave it to a lady from church who doesn't have a lot. Another careless household, unfortunately...

She contacted me via. text a few months later, said her boyfriend bumped it off the table, and "all the ink leaked out of the screen...."

LOL - I couldn't wait to see what had happened, turned out it was a cracked screen. Fortunately, I had another in the shop, I just swapped her for the broken one.
