Need help with system crash when gaming

Power supply

Check the power supply watt.. It sounds like the power supply cannot handle the 760. The 760 recommends a minimum of 500watt. Most computers come with less.

I screwed up, after connecting remotely I see its a GTX 650 ti, I checked event viewer again still seeing the lost power error message and also a error for the dvd drive which is odd because she doesn't even have one and a NVSTREAMSVC.EXE crash, I disabled its still crashing in the game. I updated the motherboard chipset drivers along with the realtek sound drivers, she said the guy who installed the video card also put in a new ps and his used audio card cuz her audio wasn't working. I looked in device manager and it listed 3 drivers for sound, the generic msft hd audio and 2 nvidia ones, I tried disabling each systematically, still crashed in the game. I thought maybe the sound she hears is from the used card he put in. I think the possibliltiy of a too low ps supply is a good thing to check. Shes dropping it off in a couple hours and I will try and crash it myself if I can figure out how to play the game!! I'm wondering if its an issue with directx

My bet is on the PSU: too weak, or maybe failing, heck her guy may even have forgotten the 6-pin connector [emoji16]

I hope so I hate these wild goose chases, especially when the client is my barista!:p

Yes, but what program did you use to stress test the VC?

I would recommend -> http://www.ozone3d.net/benchmarks/fur/

Furmark is a great video stress tester. If it has any issue, it should be tripped by it.

Thanks I'll give it a try, ok it crashed on me, but just the monitor lost signal, the tower seemed to be still going, but I rebooted and ran Furmark burn-in test, the CPU was at 99% and the cpu temp just kept rising til I got nervous and stopped it at 100 degrees c when the program began to throttle, should I have let it complete? But I think I may have found the problem, it doesn't look like to gtx card fan is running...

First, go and read this.

Then afterwards, start from the beginning in a very methodical fashion.

She said this problem didn't start until after the graphics card upgrade. She also mentioned that "this guy" installed a new power supply and a different audio card because her audio wasn't working.

Just in reading that, I question quite a few things:

Is the new power supply big enough to handle the graphics card?

Is the new power supply faulty?

Is the graphics card connected properly?

Using the correct amount of required external power connectors if necessary?

Is the graphics card faulty?

Do the system fans all work, including both processor and case fans?

Is the heatsink all clogged up?

Is the motherboard failing?

first of all I want to thank you all for kicking in to help me troubleshoot this. I got the machine back and found with the help of a suggestion to run Furmark I immediately found the video card to be overheating, ps looked sufficient along with connectors, system looked pretty clean (see jpeg) til I noticed the card fan not spinning...

The moral of this story is don't let your ex install components into your gaming rig and leave loose screws lodged in the video card fan

I took the card out to inspect it, and plunk....screw fell out of it. Amazingly I put the wayward screw back in the case where it belonged and fired it up, its fan spun and temps went down and game runs perfect. :o
