Ive got an Acer Aspire 5935g at the moment, it powers on, but doesnt get to post, or boot. the dvd fires up, fans work and keyboard lights up but thats about it.
It just wont boot at all, im suspecting dead mobo, heres what ive tried.

with/without battery
different psu
different ram
re thermal pasting and clean heatsink
booting without dvd, hdd or wireless card
checking mobo for obvious faults.
All lead nowhere
anybody think of anything else?

Ok so here is an update:

If I reset bios by shorting out the pins and leave the AC lead in it boots up now, however If I unplug power lead, I need to reset it all again, am I right in thinking this is a cmos battery issue?
As I mentioned it is soldered to the main board so should it be getting recharged when laptop battery does, or will it need replacing?

The rtc battery is not rechargeable, it will need to be replaced.
