I feel so embarrassed, I have repaired several iPhones with broken screens or home screen issues but it was the first time I have bothered with an iPhone 6 and I have an experience I wish to forget :(

It was my own phone too, I decide to get the kit to fix the phone because there is some dirt causing the phone to squeak in the top left. I took the screws out got rid of all the dirt from the bottom (pocket after a beach trip) and then begin separating the top and the wife is in the background talking and suddenly I hear this crack. To my dismay I had shattered my screen.

£100 insurance excess later and a new phone was here as I didn't want the heartache of waiting for a screen to arrive when I was annoyed with myself as it was.

Does anyone have any similar stories? Or is it just me who is careless :)

Don't feel too bad...Years ago I totally botched up my son's Game Boy Advance to the point that I ended up selling it for parts and bought him a new one. The repair may not have been that difficult, but it was one of those jobs that started out bad and went downhill fast.

I've worked on one iPhone, 3Gs, which is mine. First was a screen replacement which, though time consuming, the repair went fine. Second time was replacing the battery, which cannot be considered a repair since I could not get it to work again. 4 hours later I'm bag this, and went over to the AT&T store. Luckily I was up for an upgrade which I gratefully took advantage of.

So, no, you are not alone by any means.

Cracked the screen on my iPad, dropped it off at one of those smart device repair places, went on a service call. Came back, paid my $100. No muss, no fuss.

Iphone 4/5/6 devices are easy money for broken screens repair (who want to know what hell is - try Sony Z3/Z3 Compact screen replacement), but 6/6plus can be pain in the ass if you don't have experience with them
