My first Web Design Job- Opinions?

Honestly, I think you need to get some more experience under your belt before you offer this as a service. At least you used a template, but it looks like you need some more experience in HTML and CSS. If you designed the logo, then you really need to consider hiring someone else to do them for you.

@PCX My client got his logo from 48hourslogo. I don't really care for it much either, but then again...it's not mine.

I know I need a lot more experience. I also explained to my client that other than my own site (with help from Jim/UTS) this was my first site. He understood this and gave me his blessing to proceed. He approached me for the job not the other way around.
He obviously doesn't have any experience with web design either, as he thought it was kicka**, but that's besides the point.
Along with what I picked up using the UTS, I also got a subscription from Lynda.com to help me learn the process (which I just completed the WordPress 3 Course). I plan on installing wordpress locally and practice designing pages in my spare time. Instapress maybe.

Thank you, honestly I can use all the "helpful" criticism I can get. I appreciate you not calling me stupid (not to bring that up again).

My advice, is to not do anything that someone could tag your name to and give you a bad rep. Right now, web design is not your thing, so I would find someone who you can outsource this type of work to. This way when someone says, "hey such and such did my website" the reaction wont be "well he wont be doing mine"

Actually, I didn't find it that bad.

It did seem to me that the images in the scroller/rotator appeared distorted. That can happen if the original images are a different ratio (h/w) than the actually scroller. OR... maybe I'm just seeing it wrong.

I thought they looked a bit stretched as well.

Not bad esp for your first. I really don't think the general public is nearly as harsh or picky as those of us that do web design or work with the web. I feel like if it's decent looking and easy to read/find info on than the average consumer wouldn't think anything of it. For instance take a look at a clients of mines site www.classicfaces.com

I didn't design it I only change info on it from time to time. One of the employees there did it in frontpage 2003. They get tons of business from the site. IMO the site is just fine it does what it's supposed to do and doesn't seem to effect thier business at all. Imagine all the 'constructive criticism' thiat would be posted about it here.

Just noticed this on the "About" page:

Taking basic mechanic knowledge, welding, modification courses all through high school prove to be detrimental in keeping his vision growing.

Maybe should be:

"Taking basic mechanic knowledge, welding, modification courses all through high school proved to be instrumental in keeping his vision growing."
