In the current news are articles about the early death of Scott Weiland and his struggles with a lifetime of addiction. I suspect a number of musicians get their inspiration from being high on one thing or another. Back in the sixties some were known for dropping acid.The thing I do lack, is musical creativity
I watch the various singing shows - The Voice, The X-Factor (from various English speaking countries) and they often speak of the nerves that affect the contestants. Got me to thinking that the drugs and/or alcohol is what helps some overcome the 'nerves'.
I never had a problem with nerves with playing an instrument and they would affect me when singing a solo as a young person.
