MS Word (2003) - Long DOC load time

Hey all

Trying to figure out why word and excel are taking up to a minute to open a file. The files are local, so it is not a network issue. The computer is running Symantec 10, but it does not seem to have the dll scan enabled for word.

The DDE looks normal and I do not think this is the issue.

Any ideas?

This computer is at a remote location, so I am thinking maybe a Help-> detect and repair might fix the issue?

There have been seveal hot fixes for this problem that Microsoft has released. It has usually been a previous security update that after being installed what you are describing happens. Check the Microsoft Download site and if you don't find anything, send me a pm and I will check to see if I have it. I try and have a complete inventory of every hotfix or security update they release as well as the hotfixes which aren't available for download unless you phone in and then they send you a link. I have 95% of those for every title release after Windows 2000 but have access to the older stuff via Technet but with so little call for it I don't keep it on my drive.

Thanks.. ill look for them.. One article I read said it could also be related to words temporary files. Any good software out there that deletes Words temp docs?
