Monitor suggestions

Because I only work out of my tiny spare bedroom rather than a shop I have no idea what's out there or what's good, bad or indifferent, so I'm hoping for a bit of direction.

A friend is a very enthusiastic amateur/hobbyist photographer. He uses Adobe photo software and wants to expand in the photo processing area of his hobby so he's looking for a decent 27-inch monitor that would be best for this sort of work.

Can anyone suggest a suitable monitor or at least tell me which parameters and specs are the most important factors for this sort of work? I must confess that I've never needed anything more than a 'standard' monitor for what I do so the whole field is quite perplexing to me.

When it comes to photography the #1 spec above all else is colour accuracy. What you see on the screen needs to match what comes out in print.

Unfortunately, true colour accuracy doesn't come cheap. A real professional design monitor is going to set you back at least £500.

For a decent entry level take a look at DELL-U2719D.

I purchased one of these recently - I dabble in PS & Light-room. I am a bit of an ASUS fanboy though, but is a really good monitor for the $$$. ALso yes as suggested a calibration tool is good to have to match PMS.
