Missing XP driver

Been out on a job today, sorting out a HP Pavilion A6305.UK, cant connect to the internet, the Ethernet driver is missing, after the customer reloaded Windows XP, so i left to get the drivers and other stuff, and cant find the driver for XP, can someone one help me, tried googling but is no help, i looked on the HP website and says the Ethernet is this Ethernet 10/100/1000BT integrated network interface, but cant find the driver. cheers

This model only came with Vista, and as you've aready discovered, no XP Drivers are available from HP. HP does not support XP Downgrades.

Your model uses an ECS MCP61PM-HM Motherboard. If you find the XP version of the NVIDIA GeForce 6150SE nForce 430 chipset (the chipset used in this motherboard), you should have networking restored, along with a few other components that may not currently be working. Your motherboard uses a PCI Realtek RTL8201N 10/100Mbps integrated ethernet, so if the chipset installation does not restore networking, try looking for the Realtek drivers.

Alternatively, if you can temporarily install another NIC, or maybe a USB NIC, you may be able to download the proper drivers for the onboard NIC by going to Microsoft Update (select the "Custom" option).

The chipset drivers is usually the one that will have it.
I ran into this article by makeuseof.com the other morning

I checked the unknowndevice app out on a laptop and it does do well in showing you who the vendor for the device is but I have only used it once.
I did learn that each vendor is assigned a number and the device ID should point you to the correct device.
I imagine though that it is only useful for common devices in which case you would probably know them already without the app.
I will try it out when I run into a real world problem.

XP should be loading a realtek driver automatically. If not do a windows update and get the driver.

This is where DriverPacks would come in handy. Or one of those '150,000 XP Drivers' you find on torrent sites etc ( only get one from a trusted source tho ). Or as the Doctor said; a USB NIC. Stick that in, connect to the net; connect to Windows Update and click on "Custom"

And Bob SHOULD be your uncle .. =)

I found the chipset drivers, by googling the motherboard number and tried that first, it worked, so thanks for the tip, now i can get on with all the other jobs the customer wants me to do, thank you to all that replyed.
