Microsoft Security Essentials release will feature prominent warnings for Windows XP

Skimmed that thread....the usual stuff to expect at Wilders....I didn't see anything of substantial meat. It uses .NET Frame..so some workstations with possibly wonky health are likely to have issues. Install software that uses .NET Frame on 100 different computers of various states of health, and you'll get a good amount that don't work well.

Between it, and Panda Cloud...those'll be my two "go to" freebies for a while.

I've been using, and recommending Bitdefender for a little while now BUT..... there is something about it that I don't like.

Can't put my finger on it.

Not very scientific I know.

Thankfully, I just registered with antivirussales.com, and they sent me 3 free emsisoft licenses, (which in addition, uses Bitdefender definitions.

I feel better now.

(Sorry, OT edit. The product I'm using is called emsisoft "anti-malware", which, to me indicates that an antivirus program is also required.

A check of the website indicates that this isn't true in this case as the product performs both functions.

They just named the product as to "not confuse people" ?? As most infections are malware related these days anyway. True but still confusing).

Edit no 2.
Oh yeah, Bitdefender would ignore my selected exceptions and still scan specific folders, ie d7ii
