I feel you in that Scottish Highland cold.
Back when I lived in the UK, I was checking out one of many ruined castles there in Scotland (Kilchurn Castle). I drove a while to get to the location but when I got there everything was flooded up to about knee height. So I would have to walk through water for about 600 metres till I got to the castle.
I thought "fu*k it, I drove all this way" and took my shoes off. I knew it would be cold, (it was winter and there was snow on the tops of the mountains), but when I put my feet in I could feel my soul leave my body, it really takes your breath away.
I had a new problem too, the path to the castle was all gravelly, the rocks were quite sharp and I was now barefoot. However, after about 30 seconds that was no longer a problem because my feet were so cold I could no longer feel anything
So I walked on over.
I totally understood when you said you couldnt get your words out because it was so cold. I hear you man.
