meditechny - I'm never ordering from them again

Just thought I'd share my recent experience with eBay vendor meditechny.

I needed a dc jack so I ordered one through meditechny (I have purchased many things from them in the past). This happened to be a $15 jack because it was sort of rare. A few minutes after I ordered it, the customer calls and cancels the repair. I email meditechny no less than thirty minutes after placing the order letting them know I want to cancel the transaction.

Later I get an email saying 'sure, we can cancel that, but we're charging you a 15% restocking fee'. I said 'for what? It never left your shelves?'. They claimed that it was their policy to charge for cancelled purchases.

Now, I could understand if it was the last one and now they have to pay for a new listing, but that wasn't the case here. They have 'more than 10' in stock. They are literally out $0 and it would have only been a few mouse clicks to refund me and adjust inventory if needed(which I doubt).

Yeah it's just a couple dollars, but it's the idea that it cost them $0 and the fact that they wouldn't work with me at all about it. I do about $10-$20k a year in eBay sales so I have no problem seeing things from the sellers perspective. If they had to relist the item, then sure, I could see that, but that wasn't the case.

It's the principle of the matter.

I try and source all of my DC jacks from Meditechny because they get it to me in 1-2 days and I have had literally one problem where they sent the wrong jack, in which they sent me the correct one immediately free of charge and let me keep the other one. Have dealt with them hundreds of times (400-500 orders) and have been satisfied with their service and support response. They even offer bulk discount rates if you decide to take that route. I for one will be continuing business with them.

FWIW I ordered a "new" power jack from them and they sent me one that was very visibly broken and you could tell someone who had no clue how to solder had tried to fix it at one point. Sent them a message about it and took multiple days to get a response. Overall it took probably 2 weeks to get a replacement, and the replacement was still very visibly not new as it was listed.

I had a problem with them selling a DC jack they said was compatible with the Alienware M15X, but wasn't. I found another seller who knew the difference. Wasn't hardly any money involved, but what a waste of time. The wrong jack meant the AC adapter couldn't be plugged in, because the jack was not aligned with the hole in the bottom cover.

I have ordered from them several times in the last couple years and for the most part I have no issues. I have had the occasional "wrong power jack" issue though. I honestly can't remember if I every tried to return one, they are so cheap that I usually just reorder from somewhere else and then keep it in stock for later. I don't have time to fret over $10-$20.

I've never used them, but I can't really blame them for their policy. Think about it for a moment: they have to stop the packaging, edit their inventory in their database, cancel a FedEx or UPS shipping number, and, possibly, still pay a cc processing fee. It may have only been thirty minutes, but they could have already had it packaged and ready to go.

I'm in New York and use them all the time, they are one of the better ebay sellers and ship very fast. Not to take sides, but they do have to make something on a transaction if you end up just changing your mind. Doesn't matter if its 1 minute later, they still have to deal with the transaction and the refund and so on.

did you cook those things or what?

anyways, i just ordered 4 octagon dell dc jacks from there and they arrived very quickly ill probably use them more often now.

If you take a look at this page: http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-ASUS-K5...=Laptop_Adapters_Chargers&hash=item20c3799be7

Look at the "Shipping and Payments" Tab you should find their "return policy details" section that clearly states the restocking fee.

I have dealt with them in the past and from what I can remember may have rec'd 1 wrong part (they sent the wrong part). I believe it was taken care of in a timely matter. Now when I need a particular part I send my request to the "man with the money" and he places the order(s).

I almost always check the "fine print" of any ebay seller, including where the company is located as I prefer to work with companies located and selling out of the United States.

Yup, hot air tool. :p (I've since been using a 5mm nozzle to reduce such collateral damage.) Also, I removed and re-installed the "wrong" jack twice, thinking I must have installed it on the wrong side of the MB when I saw that the jack didn't line up with the bottom cover hole.

+1 more for liking meditechny. I use them all the time as a reliably fast and accurate supplier...and I am on the other side of the country. I don't recall ever having an issue yet, so I have not put their customer service to the test.

I'm in New York too. I have ordered from them before. I received the correct replacement part. I never saw a 15% restocking fee. To me, that is completely bullcrap that the company would charge you for this.

"Cancelled transaction;
We can cancel transactions, just let us know.
If the purchase was a mistake or by change mind etc. we charge 15% restocking fee."

That's in their items for sale, its part of their terms.

I am stunned this was even posted. Talk about nit picking.

94,000+ transactions and 99.3% Positive feedback FTW.

Sorry guys but it was really the lack of customer service(which is a giant pet peeve of mine). I received three or four messages and none of it was 'I see what you're saying' or 'I understand'. It was pretty much 'It's policy', 'It's policy', and 'I'm sorry but it's policy'
