mail filtering while using gmail

I have a client who is being forced to use a 3rd party av/spam email filtering service inbound and outbound on his email.

He currently uses the gmail business package and has all his employees logging into gmail.com to use the service.

I know when integrating this email av/spam service to their incoming, it's as simple as changing the mx records to their server, and configuring that provider with gmails servers

however

is it possible to send the outgoing gmail email to the 3rd party av/spam filtering service? If so, how?

If it's not possible, is it possible with office 365 exchange?

You can build custom outbound connectors on O365....so I suppose you'd create one for all e-mail going outbound. And you'd have to change the SPF to reflect the outbound SMTP services IP(s).

I'd assume that the 3rd party would have extensive documentation on how to do this. It's certainly possible to make changes to both incoming and outgoing routes in gmail.
