This system has a AMD Radeon HD 6750M (1GB) + Intel HD Graphics 3000 (384MB).

It is experiencing the "gray screen of death" and sometimes goes to a black screen.

I tried to reinstall OSX but it says my fresh USB drive w/ High Sierra is corrupted.

RAM passed 9 hours 30 minutes of MemTest86 and the hard drive's SMART status is good & it passed Seagate Seatools' long generic test.

What do?

This system is notorious for having a faulty GPU. I just want to make sure that it is definitely the problem.

Make sure the date/time are correct from Terminal before trying to install macOS.
If those are wrong then you do get weird errors about the installer being corrupt.

Certainly sounds like the graphics issue though.

Have you tried swapping memory and the drive. I don't have a lot of faith in these software tests.

Just did. Different RAM and new HDD. The installer loads for a bit before hitting a permanent grey screen.

Can't access the Terminal to check the date and time but I am not getting that error message anymore.
