customer had a broken lcd (screen smashed) replaced with one off fleabay
40 days later they bring it back with backlight issues so i order inverter off same comapny on fleabay
it comes in and its still giving the faint dark screen image, so i figure maybe the new lcd backlight maybe went bad so i exchange that lcd for new one
still same issue

so now i send the inverter back for a replacement thinking they maybe sent me a bad one the first time, nope still same problem

think it could be a wire issue?

Do you have anything else to boot from like an install DVD or better yet a firewire system? If you already zapped PRAM NVRAM disregard that suggestion. Otherwise there is the tiny delicate black inverter cable that plugs into the inverter and comes out of the left display hinge area and plugs into the logic board. Other than that after 2 LCDs and 2 inverters it could be a logic board issue.

yea i really hate apple computers , i only took this one in because it was an obvious fix of a smashed screen,it was fine for the 40 days after the rginal install. now its a problem computer that ive wasted money on shipping return costs to try to figure out, debating now to either check the cable or just cut it loose and tell them to bring it an apple repair center

Here is the inverter cable to try. Other than the other things I said to try, the macbooks are really sensitive to pinched/strained cables. Also, I always get my screens from powerbookmedic and every smashed screen on those that I do, I've never had one come back and never received a DOA screen so far. They cost more than something on ebay, but I pay the extra to not deal with the potential headaches. I've got a pile of smashed screens with good backlites that if worse comes to worse I'll plug in one of those to make sure.
