Hello folks
Received this laptop that's now refusing to start after no use for about 6 months after finishing school.
Plugged it in for about 30 minutes still nothing.
Tried restarting with battery disconnected.
Held down power button with battery disconnected for about a min.
Connected battery, held down power button then plugged in charger.
SMC reset Shift-Ctrl-Opt + Pwr for 10 sec, release wait for 10 sec and try again.
Plugged it in o/night.
Humm, what else to try.
Guy reckons it was all working before he stopped using it.

Are you using the client's original power supply, or one of your own? Regardless, try a different USB charger, try charging on the other port. If neither of those work, out of ideas.

He didn't bring his in. I used a couple of mine.
Queried him about any particular event prior to storage and he said nothing happened.
The miffing part of Apple stupidity these laptops with USB C charging there's no power charging/on indication.
Can't just look and gauge what's happening.

He just got out of school. He doesn't want to admit he broke the laptop mom and dad got him for school. He now has some money so he thinks he can slide a fix in without telling the parents. Either he spilled something on it or the charging port is damaged. Make sure it isn't loose or has cracked parts.

I must admit the laptop looks pristine.
Not even dust n fluff inside, he must have taken care of his precious jewel.
I can't dismiss odd accidents though 😏

Get a USB-C ammeter so you can see what is going on. Insert it between the charging block and cable. You're shooting in the dark without an ammeter. Before considering it's a board issue, make sure it's not a parts issue, swap out the battery with a new one. USB-C should charge at 20V. It will start at 5V and once the circuit detection completes jump to 20V. Bad CD controller chips stay at 5V and never jump to 20v.

My bet after it set for 6 months is the battery drained to nothing and won't charge now. We just had a 2019 15" laptop only used a dozen times in 2 years, been stored during a move for the last year and wouldn't turn on and wouldn't charge. Ammeter showed 20v, amperage shot up to 1.9a and then back to zero after 10 seconds. Basically tried to charge battery, battery wouldn't take charge, no AOK signal so controller chip shut down the charging circuit. Installed new battery, 20V, 2.9amps.

Thx for tip mate, didn't know about the gadget.
Will definitely get one.
Some available on ebay with two options: USB or Bluetooth. Have queried the seller to confirm what's the difference but haven't got an answer yet:
