Mac USB Repair Stick : ... For the newbie !

Hi guys.
I have my first ever MAC virus removal job tonight..... Ever.

FBI malware.

I've researched on how to remove it, but I'd appreciate some options.

Ideally I'd like to put a MAC repair stick together.

I don't even know which USB formats a mac can read,..... it's that bad

I'm a bit short on time, so if better fire up virtual box.

No one ever said that. I will say you have to be a retarded monkey or do it on purpose. Plus, its not a virus. Its "malware" there are no Mac viruses as far as I know.

Also did you notice he only had to reset Safari? Done. Lets see now, with a PC you would need to: boot to safe mode because the system would be locked down, run rkill or something like it to kill the process, do multiple scans with several different programs to catch everything running in the registry, reset the browser, then run some kind of repair utility to fix everything the scanners broke.

I'll look at mine and post a list for ya. As for the file format it can be FAT 32 if you want it to work with PC and MAC

Ok, ok. So its a tad easier with max. It transpired the guy had already paid the ransom just before I got there, and the browser (safari) appeared nominal.

I reset it anyway, together with chrome. I checked and saw references to conduit, so I deleted that.

Also, I ran ccleaner, which made me feel on familiar territory.

I recommended Bitdefender as an AV, but the OS was out of date. I saw a free upgrade to mavericks and left it installing. I gave instructions on how to install Bitdefender and left it at that. The customer seemed happy with me. Hay Ho.
