I guess I'm in the minority here. I bought teamviewer just before version 8 came out and was upgraded for free to version 8. I've stuck to that version and it offers everything I need for a one man shop.
They do keep pestering me about upgrading non stop. They also add UPGRADE NOW popups on my client's machines which is annoying. Some do upgrade every now and then and I have to "downgrade" it by installing teamviewer 10 on a virtual machine to remote into the new version, uninstall, put my custom teamviewer 8 setup file ont he desktop, tell client by phone to "double click the blue box, no not the icon with no blue in it at all, the BLUE BOX, it has a white circle... with blue arrows inside... it says TEAMVIEW... oh god damn it I'll drive right over..
What was I saying? oh, dont buy teamviewer.
In SC the software client updates is from your host server, If you have the version 5.3, install a lot of clients with the 5.3, then you update your server to the 5.4 and end the support for your version, your clients continue with the version 5.3 and you see in your control panel what version have the client.
If the ScreenConnect company update to version 6, your clients dont know that, becuase your clients ask for updates to your host server.
And you will do the update from the clients selecting all clients and click on "Re-Install". Or you will config in the options of your server to auto update clients. The update is from your version installed and the update is from your server.
Don't forget you get a discount with the technibble business kit.
I purchased the 2x license, It works great, but I may upgrade to 3x concurrent sessions. I have it self hosted behind a fixed ip address, and I had alot of trouble getting it to work right with my phone company router, but it has been working great since I put the phone company router into bridge mode and installed an Untangle box for my company.
Be careful with using an IP addres, the ISP IP address sometimes change, or we want to change ISP, and has a big problem. Do this o something like this:
For Static IP:
Add an "A Record" in the control panel for your Domain.
Host: fix Point: Your Public Static IP
then you have fix.yourdomain.com
For Dynamic IP:
Install Dynamic IP updater (No-ip, DynDNS etc)
Add an "Cname (Alias)"
Host: fix Point to: Your Dynamic DNS Name for example: fixdsfdf.no-ip.com
Then you have fix.yourdomain.com
With the advantage of vanity and easy name to enter the clients, and we will change ISP at any time or server company at any time.
