I just started using the Linux Webmin console and WOW, it has a lot of options. I ran some SMART test and viewed the drives and my one drive shows that it passes all tests but there are 13.3 billion seek errors and this thing is passing!? WTF really.

Here are some screen shots of the SMART page from Webmin.

What distro are you running? If there is no disk utility pre-installed you might install one to get another "opinion" or boot to a Ubuntu/Mint/Debian live disk and run it from there. Sounds fishy to me.

It looks like you are using gsmartcontrol. Piece of advice, it always passes. This is one of its short comings. Just read the results and ignore what it says for pass / fail. You should be able to read the results and use common sense and know if its passes or fails. Always run an extended test unless it fails the short test. The other question I have for you is what kind of hard drive are you testing? If its a Fujitsu, then you will need to test it in something like HDDScan to get accurate bad sector count.

Thanks a lot for the reply. It is a seagate drive so maybe I'll just run SeaTools and see what it says.

If it is a seagate, then its failing. Anything past 20 or 30 bad sectors needs to be replaced. Its not a bad idea to get a second opinion though.
