Client will not tolerate Win10 I have win 7 iso on USB when it loads no mouse and does not see USB I guess because its USB 3
When I have done this before I had a MSata adapter started install on another computer after reboot swapped drives then let it continue on target laptop
this one is M2 Sata I could get another adapter, but that still might not work
I guess the other way would be to find needed drivers for Lattitude 7280 and modify win7 iso buts thats easier said than done.

I told her there is basically no difference she would only click short cuts on desktop but no way she will have Win10 or 11

I personally would install Windows 10 - latest version - and hand it back to the client telling her you cannot and will not waste time trying to install Windows 7.
If she protests just part ways. She's not a client you need.
Install Start 11 that will give her the look and feel of Windows 7. Honestly I find when clients are like this it’s because the tech is equally hateful of the product.

This machine shipped with Windows 10. You should not attempt to install Windows 7 on it. Stand your ground and don't let the client bully you. It's insanity to try and Install Windows 7 on a machine that shipped with Win 10. Also, where is the license for this coming from?

Even if, I say *if* you get Windows 7 installed, it's going to be full of security holes and that client will drag you back once her drive has been encrypted by the latest round of ransomware.

We are not talking about an air gapped industrial PC that requires an old version of Windows for LOB or old machinery. We are talking about a stubborn, idiotic user. Drop her as a client. That's my 2 cents. Sorry to sound harsh but this is lining you up for nothing but misery!

Thanks I will have a word with her I thought it might have been shipped with win7 been a Dell refurnished.
Bought it from worst Buy every Dell refurnished I have bought from them, Optiplex, Lattitude has been new this one cost $310 cad never used.
Actually its not from BB they have other vendors selling on their site.

Yep. Run the service tag it'll tell you what it shipped with. If it didn't ship with W7, if it was me, I'd tell them tough luck. If they really have to have W7 they'll have to accept very limited options.

Getting back to the original question... here (https://www.poweriso.com/tutorials/install-windows-7-from-usb-3.0-port.htm) is one of a few guides on this topic that has proven helpful to me. It's a bit drawn out, but not too much work. Then you have the iso. The Intel chipset driver is needed rather than a model specific driver.

If ever there were a case where "the customer is not right" it's in demanding a Win7 installation now.

Unless it were a situation where the computer were not in contact with cyberspace in any way, and the software only ran under Windows 7, and it was control software for some insanely expensive manufacturing machine, then it's, "I'm sorry, but I do not, and will not, install any version of Windows that is not currently under support by Microsoft."

While there are exceedingly rare, good reasons for installing and maintaining an out-of-support version of Windows, general use is never one of them.

This person needs to learn to deal and to go with the flow. And giving a good push in that direction is doing them a huge favor.

I tried to changer her mind even under pain of death she was adamant, also she is a long time generous client.
I was going to do it with an M2 b+ adapter start it in a doner then put back after first reboot got sick of waiting for adapter
I knew there was another way but did not want to spend a lot of time messing with it, I finally decided to go that route and it was easy.
Used the Dell Operating System Recovery Image in Microsoft Windows created the boot USB, it found the USB3 drivers.
