Laptop screen has no cursor. Customer is bringing it in later. If I connect an external VGA monitor and that works fine I would suspect the laptop monitor is bad or a connection to it is bad. But statistically what would you say are the odds that it's the MB?

Statistically, I would say low seeing you have video out to an external. But, it could be the MOBO though.

Well the external VGA monitor was black too when I connected it. So I unplugged the battery, and everything worked fine with AC power. Then turned it off, stuck the battery back in and unplugged the AC power. It booted fine like that too. Strange days indeed.

Is this the first time you have worked on a laptop with screen issues ?
Yes. I usually work on space rockets.
