I've been looking at the KVMs so I can use to desktops with one monitot/mouse/monitor but on the USB cables I could only find 1.1. The rest were PS/2 and 6-hole for keyboard. What do you guys use?
Thanks in advance for the help

just google usb 2.0 kvm if thats what u need. but in theory 1.1 will have no troubles running keyboard and mice as the usb speed will make absolotly no difference for these devices.

the kvm i use at work is a std 4 port ps2 one. most the time its fine. only newer dell boxes ive gotta use a diff setup as they dont have ps2 ports on the mobos

Thanks

I appreciate it. You're right I didn't think about the small amount of power needed for just a mouse and keyboard...

Theres alot of KVM switches out there, and he is right, USB speed doesn't remember. But you might want to get a KVM switch with additional USB ports and maybe an audio port as well to receive audio comin out of both/all computers.

Thanks, I appreicate that. I'm really learning alot from this website...its great and could not have come sooner since I just opened a small home business doing repairs..

I have been using some cheap ones from wal.mart designed to use ps2. I just stick a usb/ps2 adapter on my keyboard and mouse and all is well.

walmart

did you get the kvm from walmart or the usb/ps2 or both? I'll have to look closer next time I go I ended up getting a two port off of amazon..but I'm looking for a second pair..

KVM switch

I have found some good buys at eBay.

I have bought a Compaq 8 port PS/2, a 4 port el-cheapo USB, and my current is a rackmount Outlook 4 port PS/2 from Apex PC Solutions. All have worked very well and have been real reasonable in price. I think my next switch will be an 8 port KVMoE.

So depending on your needs and expectations, there are lots of options out there. Take a look and see what works the best for you.
