Just finishing up a server load up for a client. Kinda exciting as this will be my clients first experience with an actual server. This is the T610 - yes, Getting old in the tooth but performs very nice. 12 cores. Ive gotten about everything I can do offsite done. The look on their faces when I go to install this in about a week is going to be priceless
CentOS 7.5
Windows 10 in VM
VPN off site access for client
The normal stuff - Samba, DHCP, RAID....
Offsite backup and dual external SSD's for daily also.
Might have to pickup a controller battery for it but have to let it run and see - currently in "learning" mode. So, Ill look at it in the morning and decide then.
Got OMSA loaded on this one. Runs nice. Also had an issue with fan speed. Found that hardware that was added was new and not saved to "inventory". So, I did that and rebooted and "TA DA" normal fan speeds.
I made one screw up. Accidentally ordered in 2.5 drives and the case came with 3.5 bays. So, I was able to locate adapters for it. Tragedy averted!
After I get this all installed plus a new AP for the main building, I will be setting up the wireless bridge to the building across the street
.
Now, Im kinda burned out. Thankfully work has slowed down a bit but I have some catch-up work to do.
More Coffee please ....
