issue with iexplorer

for about the last 3 weeks now I have been having an issue with iexplorer.
When I try to close a window while surfing the net it will go to the tool bar and the CPU usage goes to 100% the only way to get the application to close it to go into task manager and end task several times.
I have scanned for trojans/malware, and ran virus scans but nothing helps.
Also when I am on a site and click a link to open another window the second window stays blank the cursor shows working and the new window never opens. when you close the second window both windows close!
can anybody help me with this

In Internet Explorer goto Tools>Manage Addons>Enable or Disable Addons and list the items you have in there. What programs have you used for scanning? I would suggest running "Hijack this" and posting the log on here, and also run "Spybot" and "Smitfraudfix" from safe mode to reset the hosts file and clear out any temp files.

Also, try installing firefox to see if the same thing happens. Then keep using firefox as it's much better

I agree with Simmy on all counts. Post your hijackthis log if you want, we will tell you want to remove.
