For all the D7 aficionados out there:

We have been using D7 for about three years. We recently purchased D7II. Just recently we are getting 'Download aborted' when we try to update on both. We have tried it on numerous machines and they all give this message. We has disabled the AV and and even disabled firewalls. One of the techs took it home and he is getting the same thing. We have searched the foolshit.com forums also. We're puzzled.

Any thoughts?

Also has anyone compared Ultra Virus Killer to D7/D7II. There appears to be a few more features in UVK and a smoother UI. Fred seems real responsive to questions on UVK. However it is hard to give up D7. Comments. If we can get the time, one of our techs will try to do a one-on-one comparison. The XP conversions are currently killing us. (That is Good)

Have you posted this on the D7 forum? You'll likely get a quicker response from Nick by posting your issue there. Def keep us updated on the 1on1 comparison. I'd like to see your results. Good luck.

I think that comparisons between D7/D7II, UVK and Tweaking.com's Windows Repair (AIO) are really starting to heat up. Very interesting to watch because in the end, we techs will be the winners. ;)

Agreed. Since these are basically scripts to automate using other tools, with some additional functions, it comes down to ease of use and what interface you are comfortable with.

can you ping download.d7ii.com and cloud.d7ii.com and/or download.foolishit.com?

I see that this thread is two days old and I only have D7, not D7II or cloud, but I can't ping any of those and I'm having the same problem.

I don't know what was up with the OP and/or if the problem resolved itself or not...

but the issue you are having this morning is known -- my websites, forums, most everything is down, my web host is experiencing some technical difficulties right now it appears... I'm still on hold with support.

The OP has been very busy with a large network installation this weekend.

No - we can not ping any of the sites listed. Now for some reason we cannot ping MSN. Yahoo ok, Google ok and some others. Strange. We called our DSL provider (Centurylink) - they could not ping MSN or yours either.

I sent you the version we are currently running d7II - v 1.5.10
d7 - v 10.4.35

Thanks
Tim

Awesome! Being busy and especially on the weekend means good money!

The issue seems to be resolved for me at least, I can access my own sites and servers now. I do note my webhost is not yet confirming this as a fixed issue, so... (and I know that even though everything was down for me today, it was still up for some people as my analytics showed live traffic, though very little, so that was weird.) Are you still experiencing the issue?

Yes, we can ping all three sites. We are still experiencing the issue. We have downloaded the latest d7 and d7II

So it isn't a server issue. Something is preventing your d7/d7II executables from talking to those URLs on port 21 (FTP), and if it happens on more than one PC then I would look towards any devices you have on your network like a Sonicwall/Untangle appliance or similar. Some Sonicwall configurations will prevent passive FTP by default. I can't remember which but one Untangle A/V add-on also likes to block file transfers from my URLs.

We do not utilize a network. The only commonality is that it is a CenturyLink DSL. I have CenturyLink DSL at home and two of my techs have Suddenlink Cable at their homes and are experiencing the same issue.

Do you want to pursue this on the Foolshit Forum?

Hmm, well something MUST be common between the systems you've tried it on, DNS, firewall, some type of content filter... because no one else has this trouble to my knowledge or has mentioned it to me.. (minus my web hosts actual server issues yesterday which are resolved now, and your issue was actually reported 2 days before that trouble, so...)

Yes we can pick this up on my forums. I'm honestly not sure how to troubleshoot though since it seems to be just you... I can remote in and see this behavior for myself later on today if that is acceptable. I'm busy today with appointments, but I can try to fit you in this evening (after 3-4pm ET) if that is ok. Tomorrow is bad but from Thursday on I should available most anytime. Let me know.

Nick, could you respond to my emails please.
